If you are looking for a supremely beautiful and private garden setting for your wedding or event, the gardens at Keilthustag Lodge are available for rental. They even look stunning in the rain with the vibrancy of their leaves and petals being refreshed by a long, cool drink. Keilthustag Lodge lies in the north of the Island, on the borderline of Bride and Andreas. The area is recorded to be the driest and sunniest on the Isle of Man and the only place where grapes can be successfully grown. The setting is totally peaceful and private with heavily planted gardens rolling down, softly, to neighbouring fields and the sea.
The original house
The original house was built on an old church stone, which still remains part of the property today. History records a well in the grounds which was said to have healing waters and a ‘fairy hole’ in the top of the earthen embankment into which “any one wanting a cure would put in a stone with a spit”. Maybe this is why the gardens feel full of ancient wisdom and magic.
Manx stone
The house and gardens were re-designed in 1977, using Manx stone as a major theme to create raised beds, pathways, a sweeping driveway and magnificent pond features with fountains and bridges, backed by rockeries full of flowers. The pond configuration on the right of the drive spans some 50 metres of great beauty with the eyeline extended by a wide variety of mature trees, including majestic horse chestnuts. Grass tennis court
Off centre lies a full sized grass tennis court, approached by broad, Manx stone steps, perfect for marquees of any size. To the rear of the property there is a further patio with pond and fountain, mature trees and shrubs, connected to the two main reception rooms of the house by double sets of french windows, allowing seamless entertaining. This may, eventually be available for winter weddings.
Unforgettable weddings
The gardens are suitable for unforgettable weddings, providing ample opportunity for photographs. They are also ideal for concerts/ corporate events/ themed parties and all types of photography. For weddings, it may be possible for the master bedroom and two further bedrooms to be available for Bride and Bridesmaids to prepare on the day. All marquee hire/ catering etc. would be extra to the cost.
